These improvements are part of the inaugural VIBE Home Makeover, combined to create a designer home renovation valued at $150,000 to a recipient family in need at no cost to the homeowner. Each VIBE Home Makeover provides a complete home transformation, with at least 20 exterior and interior improvements and upgrades. The renovation is completed during a 12-day community build supported by volunteers from our project partners, including home improvement-related companies.
Each of our four sectors is highlighted in separate blogs: CORE, MAJOR, SITE-SPECIFIC, and FINISHING TOUCHES.
Sector 1: CORE Improvements
CORE upgrades include 10+ improvements that we strive to provide each and every VIBE recipient. These improvements are included if there is a need and desire for each of the CORE upgrades, it is expected that each recipient will receive most or all of these upgrades.
The exterior of their home will be beautifully painted the color of their choice. This includes transformation of the main surface. Coordinating accent colors will be used for the trim and entry door. Inside, fresh custom paint, matching our designer’s selected color palette, will be applied throughout the home, including accent walls.
Landscaping will receive an extensive refresh, with specifics to be determined by the recipient’s needs and wants, and the home’s current layout and possible enhancements. This may include trees, shrubbery, flowers, vegetable planting beds, etc.
An upgraded A/C and Heating system provides high-efficiency, and low-energy utilization to save on the homeowner’s future power bills while offering a more comfortable living environment.
Our window partner will install multiple replacement windows throughout the home. The windows will be able to withstand the more extreme climate of Florida’s summer heat and storms while providing more energy-efficiency to further lower power bills.
Our solar energy provider will install a system of multiple panels and integrated technology which provides the family even more savings in future power charges.
New flooring will be installed throughout the home, with possibilities including designer tile, durable laminates, and cozy carpeting.
Our kitchen upgrade may be the most striking transformation of all. The kitchen receives a major makeover, with new cabinets or refacing, new stunning countertop options, and brand new appliances, including; refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and microwave. In addition, all bathrooms will also receive an upgrade, with new cabinets or refacing, new sinks and fixtures, tile/flooring, and the tub/shower area.
New electronics, including in the main living area (large screen TV, sound system, etc.) will satisfy the family’s entertainment wishes. The CORE sector will be complete with the delivery and setup of new furniture in the common areas and all bedrooms, including upgraded mattresses and coordinated bedding.
Depending on design, theme, style, and layout, we will incorporate some of the homeowner’s treasures that are already in the home, and add to them, complimenting the recipient’s tastes.
In all, the selected recipients receive a VIBE Home Makeover of more than 20 improvements in the CORE, MAJOR, SITE-SPECIFIC, and FINISHING TOUCHES sectors, transforming their homes into a truly beautiful and highly-functional living environment. (Since each home makeover has very different conditions, each recipient will not receive all of the noted improvements you may see mentioned, but rather, approximately 20 listed upgrades, plus finishing touches, that are conducive to their living situation.)
